System Selection: Vendor Demonstrations

When selecting a new IT system you should review a number of solutions to find the one that best matches your needs. Vendor demonstrations are critical. When well planned and executed they allow your project team to directly evaluate and compare the two or three most promising solutions.

The following link will take you to a summary document with suggestions on how to structure vendor demonstrations so that your project team can select the system that most suits your needs.

Welcome to The Technology Consultant Blog

I am an information technology consultant based in Seattle, Washington, USA. I have worked internationally as a consultant for over 30 years. My main interest is the practical application of technology to improve business productivity, processes and decision-making, and effective technology management disciplines. I am also very interested in the use of technology for personal, social and community benefit. My objectives in posting this blog are to share what I’m learning and to learn from others through comments and dialog. I will post my thoughts on technology management, business decision-making, vendor management, software applications, the business of consulting and general business topics.

As an independent consulting firm, we frequently help clients with the evaluation and selection of software, hardware and technology services. In order to maintain our independence, we don’t re-sell any solutions and we don’t accept referral fees or commissions. As a general rule I will avoid making any evaluations in the blog on any specific products and services that we might conceivably be involved in evaluating for our clients. However, as a small business owner I am happy to share my recommendations on technologies for personal productivity and small business use – those products and services that I use personally and professionally.

Since we are close to the year end, with all the “best of” reviews, in my next few posts I will give kudos to some of the tools and services that have made my life easier this year.

Welcome to my blog. I appreciate your thoughts and comments.
